Retail
Retail buildings are usually one of two types:
- Single story CMU with tube columns, beams or joist girders, steel joist and steel decking
- Multi-story structures of composite beam design usually connected to a shopping mall.
In both case, the designs and construction documents are usually complete, and there are very few design changes during construction.
Usually the owners have prototype designs that only need minor alterations to comply with local building codes and seismic zones. Schedules and completion deadlines are always critical due to a store advertising an opening date or "grand opening."
